About Kate Simmons
Kate Simmons earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Miami and is now pursuing a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Florida with an expected graduation date of August 2025. After graduation, Kate plans on working to obtain licensure and pursuing a career path as a LMHC. Her ultimate goal is to open her own private practice where she can see clients and provide supervision and guidance to counselors-in-training. She is passionate about working with child and adolescent populations and utilizing play therapy to foster a safe, expressive environment for clients to explore their emotions and behaviors. Kate's counseling approach utilizes CBT and client-centered techniques to dispute thoughts, challenge big behaviors, and foster empathetic connections. Outside of the counseling room, Kate enjoys reading, taking long walks, and watching reality TV to practice self-care. Kate is really excited about working with you and is devoted to fostering a warm environment in which you can start and continue your healing journey.
Kate will be an intern at Willow Tree Therapy Services from August 2024 until July 2025.
